Data integration and assurance are critical for enabling trustworthy, explainable, and certifiable medical AI systems. Within the INSAFEDARE project, the CEA List Laboratory for Embedded and Autonomous Systems is pioneering next-generation technologies that ensure medical data — both real and synthetic — can be safely and intelligently combined, understood, and validated across diverse healthcare contexts.

As the leader of several core technical tasks, CEA is developing cutting-edge tools and frameworks that form the foundation of the INSAFEDARE ecosystem, advancing the safety assurance of digital health devices and AI-based healthcare technologies.

How CEA List is Contributing to INSAFEDARE:

  1. Graphical Data Integration Pipelines – Developing a modular, web-based platform for assembling complex data integration  and synthetic data generation workflows.

  2. Semantic Data Annotation – Creating intelligent components that automatically enrich datasets with biomedical metadata to improve data quality and interoperability.

  3. Intelligent Recommenders – Using machine learning to suggest optimal components for building efficient and reusable data integration pipelines.

  4. Assurance Ontology & Portal – Designing an ontology and web portal that structure and manage assurance evidence for digital-health certification.

CEA-List continues to drive innovation in safe synthetic data generation and assurance, strengthening the reliability and transparency of medical AI systems across Europe.
